Bobi Wine Relief Drive Flops

Popstar cum Politician, Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi wine has revealed in a statement that his grand plan amidst the global pandemic was to start distributing food to all parts of the country today as a relief program during these very turbulent times.

Kyagulanyi and other politicians like Hon. Muhammad Nsereko Kampala Cental legislator and Hon. Lutamuguzi, member of parliament for Nakaseke East  had earlier on last week given food to the people of Kamwokya, Mityana, Mubende, Luwero and other parts of  Wakiso a move the President of the country referred to as playing cheap politics.

The president made these utterances while addressing the nation on March 30, 2020 about the new measures of curbing coronavirus. His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni also ordered that these politicians be arrested and charged with attempted murder if they continued to do so.

“In  the  meantime, I  direct  the  Police  to  arrest  the  opportunistic  and irresponsible  politicians  who  try to  distribute  food  for cheap  popularity.    Those are very dangerous  to  the health  of  the  people.    When  you  try  to  distribute  food or  money  in  such  a  situation,  people  gather  around You. Many people can  be  infected  in  that  process.  You  will,  therefore,  have  caused  the  sickness  or  death of  those  people.    Anybody  involved  in  that  effort  will be  arrested  and  charged  with  attempted  murder,” Museveni said.

Hon. Kyagulanyi  also expresses his worry over the effects of a hungry population noting that if the president was not banning their activities for political reasons, he would have instructed the to put in place standard operating  procedures so that their activities continue. Fellow politicians like Hon. Muhammad Nsereko have also undermined Museveni’s move suggesting it was not called for.

“This regime has stolen enough from our people. The least they can do is come to the aid of Ugandans at this hour of need,” Bobi Wine’s speech reads in part.
